Carrolo was born in Italy on April 25, 1877. The original merry-go-round at Oakland Beach was owned by Joseph Carrolo, known locally as the "Carousel King". Although it remained popular with the locals, the carousel and remaining amusements ultimately fell victim to the automobile and theme parks. Later, the amusements, with exception of the carousel, were damaged or destroyed when major hurricanes struck our coast in 19. ![]() ![]() The Oakland Beach hotel was tragically lost on when a tinner's solder pot ignited a fire. A large tent was erected on the lawn and clambake dinners were regularly served. A bridge spanning Warwick Cove was built, and tracks extending across the lower end of the Oakland Beach peninsula and across Brushneck Cove to the religious colony at Buttonwoods completed the line.Ī beautiful destination hotel was built on the southern shore with a sweeping lawn to the bay. Oakland Beach benefited from the draw of nearby Rocky Point, where the trains and steamships from Providence would dock. To build ridership, many railroads established trolley parks - destination picnic grounds along or at the end of the rail line. Development in the village did not begin to really expand until the late 1870's and the advent of the industrial revolution bringing railroad and trolley transportation. ![]() The peninsula was used mostly for grazing livestock as it naturally eliminated the need for extensive fencing. The village of Oakland Beach was founded in 1670 as an extension of the early settlements in Shawomet.

Granted, that TPCAST wireless adapter for the Vive looks to have gotten things to a "good enough" level, but as I distinctly recall, it also uses 60 GHz to meet the bandwidth and latency requirements - a more recent development in wireless networking. You wouldn't even have to worry about bandwidth if Oculus just did the smart thing like NaturalPoint did and put an ASIC in every sensor camera to calculate the blob positions, then just send the raw blob data to the PC for final positional computation. If anyone wants to test it that'd be amazing, but I'll get to it ASAP.īandwidth is the lesser of two problems latency is what you have to worry about for VR, and it's something that's been traditionally weak for wireless connections compared to wired. If this works, this would be an amazing step. TLDR: 2 Computers, one laptop holding Oculus Rift, other one on Ethernet holding 2 sensors, FlexiHub transferring the 2 sensors data to the laptop via wireless router on 5ghz. So, the only thing is I need to know if FlexiHub can transfer 2 USB 3.0 connections (each possibly going at 640MBps, I haven't measured the amount of data those sensors use) because if it can, and the 5GHZ connection can make use of it, then we are closer to economic levels of wireless VR. In theory, this should be able to work if the data transfer rate can be seamless. I'm trying to explain this the best I can because I am wanting to test this. No restrictions (other than the range of the sensors). So, through FlexiHub, a mini pc or such connected by Ethernet would give the information from the two sensors to the laptop through wifi, and then use said data to play games with no wires attached. The idea was using a laptop, for example a laptop that has a GTX 1060, 8GB of RAM, and so on (hopefully with a 5ghz connection), connect that directly to the Oculus Rift headset, place the laptop in a backpack, and then have another device (say a desktop or mini pc with 2 USB 3.0 ports) connect the sensors and have them be used via FlexiHub. ![]() The Oculus Sensors though, can be attatched to the PC, and can serve the same function as the Light Houses. One-time login tokens for secure access to your company account. An unlimited number of simultaneous connections. With FlexiHub for Business, you gain the much-desired ability to fix the issues of your remote customers from the comfort of your office. Well, I was thinking that since the HTC Vive uses room scale and connects the sensors via the HTC Vive Hub. It is not clear for me, what exact needs this will meet? Could you explain more? ![]() “It is extremely meaningful to have been able to design and realize this monument with an incredible team,” said Libeskind. Surrounding the monument, a rocky landscape dotted with coniferous trees will evolve as the structure ages, representing the passing of time and the contribution of Canadian survivors to the culture and society of modern-day Canada. Gesturing towards the nearby Parliament Buildings, the “Stair of Hope” takes visitors from the central gathering space to the upper plaza. Burtynsky’s photographs appear on the walls of each triangular space, transporting visitors to the haunting landscapes of Holocaust sites. Within the six concrete triangles are specific areas, including an educational interpretation space describing the history of Canada and the Holocaust, three individual spaces for contemplation, a central gathering space and the cathedral-like “Sky Void,” which contains the eternally burning Flame of Remembrance. “The star remains the visual symbol of the Holocaust – a symbol that millions of Jews were forced to wear by the Nazis to identify them as Jews, exclude them from humanity and mark them for extermination,” explained Libeskind. Titled Landscape of Loss, Memory and Survival, the design features six triangular concrete structures that create the points of a star. In May 2014, a selection jury awarded design of the monument to a team led by Lord Cultural Resources of Toronto, which included architect Daniel Libeskind, landscape architect Claude Cormier, photographer Edward Burtynsky and University of Toronto historian Doris Bergen. The Government of Canada committed to matching these funds to a maximum of another $4 million, as well as providing the land for the monument. The Council, made up of five volunteers from across Canada, was given the mandate to raise $4.5 million. The following year, the National Holocaust Monument Development Council was appointed by then-Minister of Foreign Affairs, John Baird. Bill C-442 – an Act to Establish a National Holocaust Monument – was signed into law by the Governor General on May 25, 2011. Finally, with the direct support from then-Prime Minister Stephen Harper, Bill C-442 was passed – a private member’s bill introduced by Tim Uppal, Conservative representative for Edmonton. Armed with images of memorials from around the world, statistics about Holocaust education and great determination, she spent three years knocking on government doors. Laura Grosman, then an 18-year-old student at the University of Ottawa, learned that Canada was the only Second World War ally that did not have a national Holocaust monument in its capital. Oh come on, what happened?! Despite the series’ second episode being a lot better than its rather underwhelming premiere, The Book of Boba Fett’s third episode once again stumbles. The Book of Boba Fett is now streaming on Disney Plus.NOTE: Full spoilers for this episode of, “The Book of Boba Fett” are present in this review The Book of Boba Fett delivers another entertaining episode with some badass action! Considering, we have these flashbacks one has to wonder if we will see Jango Fett later this season? I know I would totally freak out! And let’s be honest, it’s totally possible, they have Temuera Morrison right there! VERDICT It makes me even more emotional considering what happens to this planet in The Bad Batch. I wouldn’t have imagined to see Kamino in live action again. ![]() And as a prequel fan, it makes me so happy. The flashbacks have also brought us a wonderful gift each week – seeing Kamino and young Boba Fett (played by Daniel Logan) again. Boba Fett riding a Bantha is one of the coolest things ever in Star Wars! Beyond that, it’s also an emotional sequence and I didn’t expect that at all! There is only one flashback this week and the whole sequence features some of the best shots of the series so far. A LOOK INTO THE PAST Boba Fett (Temuera Morrison) in Lucasfilm’s THE BOOK OF BOBA FETT, exclusively on Disney+. Though, I do hope to see more of the Twin Hutts later on or even in another series. Some threats seem to be resolved but only because there is something bigger on the way. The level of badassery is high, very high (to quote K-2SO). This week we get to see more of Krrsantan. The spikes on his shoulder pads and the scar also add to his menacing presence. That character was first introduced in the comics and I was quite happy to see him in live action. Indeed, he knows that if he wants to rule with respect, he needs to be benevolent. On the contrary, he has a sense of responsibility. He wants to lead Mos Espa in the right way. ![]() I really care about Boba because he’s not just cold-blooded killer. I love how Jon Favreau has developped the character. It’s definitely not easy to be a Daimyo for Boba Fett. And what comes next sounds very exciting! It significantly moves the story forward and sets things up for what comes next. While last week’s episode mostly focused on the flashbacks, this week main focus is on the present timeline. This one is untitled ‘The Streets of Mos Espa.’ STORY Boba Fett (Temuera Morrison) in Lucasfilm’s THE BOOK OF BOBA FETT, exclusively on Disney+.
